Pensacola, Fl. NewsWK —The National Hurricane Center has issued its complete 10:00 AM CDT advisory package (Advisory #12) for Hurricane Isaias.

🌀 Advisory #12 Vital Statistics

  • Intensity & Category: Isaias is now an official major Category 3 hurricane packing maximum sustained winds of 120 mph with higher gusts.
  • Minimum Central Pressure: Dropped to 958 mb.
  • Current Location: Approximately 195 miles south of Pensacola, Florida, and about 145 miles southeast of the mouth of the Mississippi River.
  • Movement & Timing: Moving north-northeast and forecast to turn north, with the center expected to reach the northern Gulf Coast and make landfall within the warning area this evening or tonight.

⚠️ Warnings & Regional Hazard Outlook

  • Active Warnings: A Hurricane Warning and Storm Surge Warning remain in effect across coastal Alabama and the western Florida Panhandle, including Escambia and Santa Rosa counties.
  • Life-Threatening Surge: Storm surge inundation of 5 to 7 feet is projected along immediate shorelines, bays, and sounds in the Pensacola area.
  • Damaging Winds: Hurricane-force winds extend outward up to 30 miles from the center, and tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 185 miles, with tropical-storm conditions arriving along coastal areas over the next few hours.
  • Torrential Rainfall: Widespread rainfall totals of 4 to 8 inches are forecast, with localized banding capable of producing up to 15 inches, triggering severe flash, urban, and river flooding.
  • Tornado Threat: Isolated tornadoes remain possible starting late this afternoon and evening across the Florida Panhandle and southern Alabama.

The NHC stresses that all outside preparations and protective actions in the warning area must be completed immediately as conditions begin deteriorating rapidly ahead of evening landfall. The next intermediate update will be issued at 1:00 PM CDT, followed by the next full forecast advisory package at 4:00 PM CDT.
