Remembering Dimitrios ‘Jimmy’ Maletsidis: A Life of Music and Community

Dimitrios Maletsidis, affectionately known as Jimmy, was born on December 25, 1952, in Komotini, Greece, and he passed away on April 3, 2026, at the age of 73. His life was marked by resilience as he faced a prolonged battle with diabetes and kidney disease.

After serving in the Greek military, Jimmy pursued his passion for music, performing with a local band. He later moved to the United States to join his sister and began working at Georges Pizza and Steak House in Clarinda, Iowa, alongside his brother-in-law. Jimmy became a naturalized citizen in 1982, where he met and married his beloved wife, Linda. The couple later relocated to Pensacola, Florida, where they co-founded Georgios Pizza.

Jimmy’s life was deeply influenced by his Greek heritage, and he was known for his warm heart and engaging conversations. He enjoyed traveling throughout Europe with his family and cherished the friendships he made along the way. He is survived by his wife, Linda; his son, Thanasi; and his sisters, Aphrodite Kefalidis and Eva Petrakis, along with numerous nieces and nephews in Greece.

A visitation will take place on Tuesday, April 7, 2026, at Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, starting at noon, followed by a service at 1:00 PM. Burial will occur at Bayview Memorial Park, officiated by Father John Kalantzis. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church or a charity of choice.
