Remembering Margaret Creighton Lail: A Beloved Member of the Pensacola Community

Margaret Creighton Lail, a cherished figure in the Pensacola community, passed away on June 10, 2026, at the age of 88. Born on October 12, 1937, she was preceded in death by her parents, Leroy Owens and Essie Mae Albritton, as well as her husband of 47 years, Douglas Creighton, Sr., and their son, Douglas Creighton, Jr.

Margaret is survived by her current husband, David (Pete) Lail, and her three daughters, Gail (Bo) Miller, Ann McClantoc, and Gwen Smith, all residing in Lillian, Alabama. She also leaves behind her daughter-in-law, Robin Creighton of Michigan, two stepdaughters, Cindy Noble from Camden, Alabama, and Beth (Gary) Rutherford from Molino, Florida, along with seven grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews.

A long-time member of Grace Open Bible Church in Cantonment, Florida, Margaret was known for her unwavering positivity, often responding to inquiries about her well-being with her signature phrase, “I’M FINE,” earning her the affectionate nickname “MISS FINE.” She enjoyed fishing, often seen with her cane pole, and had a love for traveling, particularly to Arizona, where she made lasting friendships.

Friends and family will gather to honor Margaret’s life during a funeral service on Monday, June 15, 2026, at 12:30 PM at Faith Chapel Funeral Home South, located at 100 Beverly Parkway in Pensacola, Florida. Visitation will begin one hour prior at 11:30 AM, with Reverend Carlos Jackson officiating. She will be laid to rest in Whitmire Cemetery. Pallbearers will include Ricky Smith, Roy Smith, Clint Smith, Clayton Delaware, Mark Kent, and Tim Nix, while Brian Harbison and George Creighton will serve as honorary pallbearers.
