Remembering Thomas Wayne Burke: A Cherished Pensacola Figure

Thomas Wayne Burke, a beloved member of the Pensacola community, passed away peacefully on June 22, 2026, at his home surrounded by family. Born on December 8, 1947, he was known as a devoted father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend, leaving a lasting impact on those who knew him.

Wayne was a proud graduate of Pensacola Tech and dedicated his career to the automotive industry. In 1982, he partnered with his father and brother to establish Burke’s Machine Shop, which operated successfully for over four decades.

Following his retirement, he pursued his passion for collecting vintage cars and frequently attended car shows with friends. An avid musician, Wayne enjoyed playing the guitar and often performed with his siblings in earlier years. His infectious sense of humor made him a joy to be around, often delighting in playful tricks.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Larry Alcus Burke, as well as his parents, Helen and Alcus Burke. Wayne is survived by his sisters, Carole Jernigan (Ken) and Cheryl Hoard (Rusty), his daughters Michelle Burke (Dave), Trezza Burke, and Lauri Wilson (Ricky), along with grandchildren Alex Clark, Katelyn Wilson, Lexi Wilson, and great-grandchildren Elliott, Jazmyn, and Layla. He also leaves behind nieces, nephews, and a cherished aunt, Estelle Francis.

Funeral services are scheduled to take place at Pensacola Memorial Gardens on Thursday, June 25th, with visitation from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM, followed by the service.
