Remembering David Lamont Dees: A Legacy of Faith and Family in Pensacola

David Lamont Dees, an esteemed member of the Pensacola community, passed away peacefully at home on July 2, 2026, at the age of 83. Born on October 28, 1941, in Pensacola, he was the son of Louis James and Myrtle Mae Dees and was one of four siblings, with whom he shared a close bond.

In June 1968, David married Faye Harrison, and together they cultivated a loving life for 58 years, centered around faith and community service. They welcomed a daughter, Julie, who along with her family, was an integral part of David’s life. He proudly earned his Bachelor’s degree from the University of West Florida and later attended Stetson University of Law, obtaining his Juris Doctor and becoming a licensed attorney in Florida on July 5, 1978.

David was deeply involved in Olive Baptist Church in Pensacola, where he contributed to the choir for many years, reflecting his strong faith and commitment to his community. He is survived by his wife, Faye, his daughter Julie Reaves (Jay), grandchildren Dylan Reaves (Riley) and Drew Reaves, as well as numerous beloved nieces and nephews.

David is remembered for his dedication to family, his unwavering faith in Christ, and his kindness towards others. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Olive Baptist Church in his memory. A graveside service will be conducted at Pensacola Memorial Gardens Cemetery on Friday, July 10, 2026, at 10 a.m., open to family and friends.
