Remembering James Anthony Williams, Sr.: A Life of Faith and Community in Pensacola

Pensacola residents are mourning the loss of James Anthony Williams, Sr., affectionately known as Tony, who passed away on June 28, 2026, at the age of 71. Surrounded by his wife of 25 years, Magdaline Williams, James’s final moments were spent at home in the community he cherished.

Born on December 13, 1954, in Brewton, Alabama, James faced adversity early in life with the loss of his mother at the age of eight. Despite these challenges, he dedicated his life to his faith and began preaching at a young age, delivering his first message from the Book of Revelation at just 13 years old. His teachings, focusing on current and future events, prepared many for what he viewed as End Times, a message he passionately shared despite its unpopularity.

In the 1980s, James expanded his outreach by producing television programs such as “Prophecy Talk” and “Youth on the Move for Christ,” which aired on WBQP TV. He collaborated closely with station owner Vernon Watson, providing local churches with valuable airtime. Additionally, he was a frequent guest on WRNE 980 Radio, where he engaged with listeners eager to learn more about his interpretations of scripture.

Known for his humor and warmth, James had a talent for making others laugh effortlessly. One of his favorite scriptures, Romans 8:28, encapsulated his outlook on life: “And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.” His legacy includes the love he had for his family, which encompasses his wife, three stepchildren, eight grandchildren, and numerous relatives and friends.

In remembrance of his life, a Celebration of Life service is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, July 18, 2026, at Westside Ministry, with a public viewing on the preceding day from 1:00 to 7:00 p.m. This event offers the Pensacola community an opportunity to honor a man who dedicated his life to service and faith.
