Investigation Underway into Shooting at Quietwater Beach Boardwalk in Escambia County

PENSACOLA, Fla. NewsWK — On July 18, 2026, the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a shooting incident that occurred early Saturday morning at the Quietwater Beach Boardwalk, resulting in injuries to a 22-year-old man. Law enforcement responded to reports of gunfire at approximately 2:46 a.m. during a private camping event hosted by The Wharf.

The event, which charged attendees $100 per tent for overnight camping, took place on a privately leased section of the beach. Upon arrival, deputies secured the area and initiated an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the shooting.

Initial assessments by authorities indicated that the injuries sustained by the victim were self-inflicted. However, the victim and several potential witnesses declined to cooperate with law enforcement during the investigation. Despite this, investigators proceeded with a thorough examination of the scene and collected physical evidence.
