Escambia County has officially issued an evacuation order for Evacuation Zones A and B, which went into effect at noon today, Thursday, October 8, 2026.
Key directives and operational details from local emergency management:
Areas Under the Order:
Evacuation Zones A and B, including Pensacola Beach, Perdido Key, Innerarity Point, and low-lying coastal/river areas (extending inland along the Escambia and Perdido rivers up toward Molino).
All mobile and manufactured homes, regardless of which evacuation zone they are in.
Anyone residing in low-lying, flood-prone areas.
Emergency Shelters (Opened at 3:00 PM today):
General Population Shelter: Pensacola Bay Center (201 E. Gregory St., Pensacola). (Note: Space is limited; cots/air mattresses are not permitted. Bring blankets, jackets, pillows, and personal necessities).
Special Needs Shelter: Marie K. Young-Wedgewood Community Center (6405 Wagner Rd., Pensacola).
Transportation & Inquiries:
Escambia County Area Transit (ECAT) is providing free transportation to shelters. Residents needing transit assistance or with questions should call the Escambia County Citizen Information Line at (850) 471-6600.
