The National Weather Service in Mobile has issued a Flash Flood Warning for south central Escambia County, Florida, including Pensacola, Ferry Pass, and Brent. Heavy rainfall of up to six inches could cause flash flooding in low-lying areas.

The National Weather Service in Mobile has issued a

* Flash Flood Warning for…
South Central Escambia County in northwestern Florida…

* Until 1215 AM CDT.

* At 616 PM CDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing
heavy rain across the warned area. Between 2 and 3 inches of rain
have fallen. Additional rainfall amounts of 2 to 4 inches are
possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected
to begin shortly.

HAZARD…Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.

SOURCE…Radar indicated.

IMPACT…Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas,
highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor
drainage and low-lying areas.

* Some locations that will experience flash flooding include…
Pensacola, Ferry Pass, Brent, West Pensacola, Ensley, Warrington,
Gonzalez, Goulding, Myrtle Grove, Pensacola Beach, Brownsville,
Olive, Avondale, Bellview, Beach Haven, Pine Forest and Villa
Sabine.

Precautionary / preparedness actions

Turn around, don’t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.
