David Richard Lawson, a lifelong resident of Milton, Florida, passed away on May 27, 2026, at the age of 79 after a brave 14-year battle with frontotemporal dementia. He was born on July 17, 1946, in Natick, Massachusetts, but moved to Milton with his family in 1950, where he spent the rest of his life.

David was the eldest of five children and grew up cherishing the outdoors, often fishing and hunting with his siblings. His faith was an important part of his life; he was raised in the First Baptist Church of Milton and was baptized as a teenager.

After graduating from Milton High School in 1965, David served in the United States Army from 1967 to 1973. Following his military service, he traveled across the United States and studied surveying in West Palm Beach before returning to Milton, where he found his true passion as an electrician. He established L & N Electric and worked alongside family members until his retirement in 2012.

On September 22, 1978, David married Debra Kay Hicks in Gulf Breeze. The couple enjoyed nearly 48 years of marriage, raising a loving family together. David was an active member of Pine Terrace Baptist Church for over 20 years until his illness prevented him from attending.

Known for his craftsmanship, David built a cabin-style playhouse for his children and was recognized in high school for his woodworking skills. He enjoyed restoring antique furniture and creating custom pieces for his family.

David is survived by his wife, Debbie, and their children, Noel and Daren (Tami), along with five grandchildren and numerous extended family members. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother.

Funeral services will be held on June 2, 2026, at Pine Terrace Baptist Church, starting with visitation at 12:00 p.m. and the service at 1:00 p.m. Dr. Mike Wiggins and Pastor Nathan Brown will officiate. Burial will take place at Serenity Gardens Cemetery, with arrangements made by Lewis Funeral Home.

The family expresses their gratitude to VITAS Hospice and the dedicated caregivers from Your Choice Senior Care for their compassionate support during this difficult time.
