Pensacola, Fl. NewsWK —PENSACOLA, Fla. — An investigation into a broad-daylight double shooting at a local motel has quickly led to an arrest, Escambia County authorities confirmed early Thursday morning. Ke’Shawn Marcellus Warren, 23, was taken into custody following an intensive police response to a violent incident that left one man dead and another wounded on Wednesday.
According to jail logs, Warren was booked into the Escambia County Jail just after 2:00 a.m. on Thursday. He is currently facing felony charges of homicide and attempted homicide. Due to the severe nature of the allegations, Warren is being held without bond pending his initial court appearance.
Deputies Respond to Hotel Del Sol Pensacola Shooting
The violent encounter unfolded late Wednesday morning inside a room at the Hotel Del Sol, located on Pensacola Boulevard near Kenmore Road. Escambia County Sheriff’s Office deputies rushed to the scene just before 11:00 a.m. after receiving urgent reports of gunfire ringing out from the property.
Investigators revealed that three individuals—Warren and the two victims—were gathered together inside the single hotel room when an altercation escalated, resulting in multiple shots being fired. The circumstances leading up to the gunfire remain under active scrutiny by homicide detectives.
The chaos spilled outside into the surrounding neighborhood as the victims attempted to flee the gunfire. One of the wounded men managed to escape the room but collapsed from his injuries a short distance away. Despite emergency lifesaving measures, he tragically succumbed to his wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities have withheld the identity of the deceased pending family notification.
The second victim suffered gunshot wounds to his legs during the encounter. Rather than waiting for emergency medical services to arrive at the active scene, he was transported via a private vehicle to an area hospital. Law enforcement officials confirmed that his injuries are considered non-life-threatening, and he is expected to survive.
Ongoing Inquiry into Escambia County Homicide
As of Thursday, a specific motive behind the double shooting has not yet been established. Escambia County Sheriff’s Office crime scene units spent much of Wednesday documenting evidence inside the hotel room and canvassing the Pensacola Boulevard corridor for witnesses or surveillance footage.
The Hotel Del Sol, situated along a busy commercial stretch of Pensacola Boulevard, remained partially cordoned off by police tape for hours following the shooting as forensic teams processed the scene.
Authorities urge anyone who may have noticed suspicious activity or individuals fleeing the area near Kenmore Road between 10:30 a.m. and 11:15 a.m. on Wednesday to contact the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office or submit an anonymous tip through Crime Stoppers at (850) 433-STOP.
