Pensacola, Fl. NewsWK — The City of Pensacola has officially announced a groundbreaking ceremony scheduled for June 17, 2026, to kick off extensive exterior renovations at the historic Fricker Resource Center.

Direction 25 Pensacola Leads Recreation Upgrades

The major overhaul is a key component of the city’s ambitious Direction 25 program—a $22 million initiative completely dedicated to revitalizing public parks and community recreation spaces across the area.

Mayor D.C. Reeves shared his enthusiasm for the upcoming transformation and its impact on local residents:

“We’re building more than just a facility—we’re building a space that reflects the heart of this community”.

To ensure safety and accommodate the heavy construction equipment, the Fricker Resource Center has been temporarily closed to the public since late May 2026.

Once completed, neighbors can expect a fully modernized facility equipped to serve the community for generations to come. City officials state that regular services are expected to resume immediately upon completion next summer.
