Alabama Lawmaker, School Officials Among 17 Arrested in Multi-Agency Atmore Human Trafficking and Prostitution Sting
ATMORE, Ala. — A coordinated, multi-day undercover sting operation conducted at an Atmore hotel has resulted in the arrest of 17 individuals, including a sitting Alabama state lawmaker and two municipal public officials, according to newly released charging records.
The operation, carried out between October 1 and October 3 by the Atmore Police Department in conjunction with regional law enforcement partners, targeted individuals soliciting commercial sex and engaging in human trafficking across the Alabama–Florida state line.
According to Atmore Police Department Major Charles Thompson, the undercover investigation operated heavily in the digital space. Undercover officers placed advertisements online, leading suspects to believe they were communicating with commercial sex workers or trafficking victims when they were, in fact, negotiating terms and rates directly with law enforcement personnel.
High-Profile Public Figures Charged
Among the 17 suspects taken into custody are several prominent civic figures from southwest Alabama:
- Alabama State Representative Brett Easterbrook (R-Fruitdale): The 53-year-old lawmaker representing House District 65 was arrested and charged with first-degree human trafficking and soliciting prostitution. Investigators allege Easterbrook agreed to pay $500 during the undercover operation before arriving at the location. Under Alabama law, first-degree human trafficking is a Class A felony carrying penalties of up to life in prison.
- Kory Wesley: President of the Satsuma City School Board, Wesley was arrested and charged with first-degree human trafficking and attempting to elude law enforcement.
- Timothy Tucker: Public Works Director for the City of Orange Beach, Tucker was taken into custody on a misdemeanor charge of soliciting prostitution.

Legal Stakes & Ongoing Review
Under the Code of Alabama § 13A-6-152, a charge of human trafficking in the first degree applies when a person knowingly recruits, entices, harbors, transports, provides, or obtains by any means another person for commercial sex through deception, force, or coercion, or when the subject believes the arrangement involves a minor or victim under duress.
All 17 defendants were processed through the Escambia County Jail system in Brewton, Alabama, pending formal arraignments and bond determinations. Local and state authorities emphasized that digital forensics and device reviews remain active, with additional court motions and disclosures expected as prosecutors prepare formal indictments.
