Remembering Gordon Wayne Cofield: A Beloved Member of the Pensacola Community

Gordon Wayne Cofield, 69, passed away peacefully on June 20, 2026, surrounded by family. Born in Pensacola, Florida, on March 21, 1957, he was the son of Charles Harvey Cofield and Catherine Mae Patrick Cofield.

Gordon lived most of his life in the Beulah community and Pensacola. He served in the U.S. Navy for three years and subsequently worked as an aircraft bearing inspector at Pensacola Naval Air Station until its closure. He later transitioned to a career as a truck driver.

He is survived by his sisters, Ann Cofield Brooks of Century, Florida, and Cathy Cofield Crawley and her husband, Jeff, of Byrneville, Florida. His brother, Charles Thomas Cofield, and his wife, Pansy, also reside in Century. Gordon is remembered fondly by his sister-in-law, Cindy Kronche of Pensacola, his goddaughter, Wendy Blankenship of Pensacola, along with numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews.

Gordon’s life was filled with both challenges and joys, but he always remained surrounded by a loving family. His memory will live on through the cherished moments shared, including familiar stories, laughter, and the bonds of family.

A memorial service is scheduled for Friday, July 3, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at Faith Chapel North in Cantonment, Florida, officiated by Rev. Mitch Herring. Following the service, Family Baptist Church, located at 5454 Mobile Highway in Pensacola, will provide a meal for attendees.

While Gordon’s passing creates a void in the hearts of those who knew him, his family finds solace in the belief that they will one day be reunited in Heaven.
