Maria Eleni Bochinis, a cherished resident of Pensacola since 2021, passed away peacefully on January 4, 2026, at Mount Sinai Morningside Medical Center. She was 47 years old.

Born on October 16, 1978, in Manhattan, Maria was the daughter of Nikidora and the late James Bochinis. She grew up in Elmhurst, Queens, then moved to Hopewell Junction, New York, where she graduated from Arlington High School, participating in both the marching band and the crew team. Maria earned her bachelor’s degree in Business Management from SUNY New Paltz.

A dedicated member of the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church in Pensacola, Maria was also active in the local dance community, particularly enjoying West Coast Swing. Her passion for dance allowed her to connect with many, including her boyfriend Shawn Morrison, whom she met during a dance event.

Maria was known for her vibrant personality, love for animals, and her ability to make friends wherever she went. She often brought joy to others with her compliments and kindness. Her interests included outdoor activities such as running, skiing, and visiting her favorite beach, Egremni Beach in Greece.

Maria is survived by her mother, Nikidora Bochinis; her brother, Dimitris Bochinis; her half-sister, Lauren Rodriguez; and several cousins and family members. She was predeceased by her father and other beloved relatives.

Visitation services will be held at McHoul Funeral Home in Hopewell Junction on January 8 from 6 to 8 PM, with a Trisagion Service at 7 PM. A funeral service will take place on January 12 at the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church in Pensacola, followed by burial at Holy Cross Cemetery.

In memory of Maria, donations can be made to the ASPCA, reflecting her lifelong love for animals.

Shawn Morrison, Maria’s boyfriend, shared, “Her kindness was what most attracted me to her. She made friends everywhere she went.”
