The National Weather Service issued a special weather statement for Escambia, Santa Rosa, and Baldwin counties as strong thunderstorms track northeast from Lillian. Gusts up to 50 mph, torrential rain, and frequent lightning threaten Pensacola, Pace, Milton, and surrounding communities.

Special Weather Statement Pensacola and Surrounding Areas

At 847 AM CDT, Doppler radar was tracking a cluster of strong
thunderstorms near Lillian, or 6 miles west of West Pensacola, moving
northeast at 35 mph.

HAZARD…Wind gusts up to 50 mph.

SOURCE…Radar indicated.

IMPACT…Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around
unsecured objects.

Locations impacted include…
Pensacola, Ferry Pass, Brent, West Pensacola, Ensley, Warrington,
Gonzalez, Pace, Milton, Goulding, Bagdad, Lillian, Myrtle Grove,
Point Baker, Pea Ridge, and Floridatown.

If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building.

Torrential rainfall is also occurring with this storm and may lead to
localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded
roadways.

Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with this storm.
Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe
shelter inside a building or vehicle.
