CANTONMENT, Fl. NewsWK — A violent, single-vehicle wreck in Escambia County sent two people to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries late Sunday evening.
According to local emergency dispatch logs and initial reports verified by the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP), the incident occurred on June 14, 2026, just before 7:30 p.m. A sedan traveling along Highway 29 near Archer Road suddenly veered off the asphalt, tore into a dense tree line, and collided head-on with at least one tree.
First responders from the Cantonment station of Escambia County Fire Rescue arrived quickly to find a chaotic scene, requiring specialized equipment to extricate the trapped occupants from the heavily damaged wreckage.
Escambia County EMS personnel stabilized both individuals at the scene before rushing them to a nearby trauma center. Due to the catastrophic nature of the impact and the severity of their physical injuries, both patients were transported under “trauma alert” status.
The high-speed crash remains under active investigation by FHP state troopers, who are working to determine whether mechanical failure, weather conditions, or driver impairment contributed to the vehicle leaving the roadway. No further information regarding the identities or updated medical conditions of the occupants has been released at this time.
