Anthony “Tony” Rivers, 88, of Pace, Florida, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on May 29, 2026. Born in South St. Louis, Missouri, he was the son of Emma (Balent) and Leslie Rivers.

Tony began his career in 1957 at the Missouri Pacific Railroad while pursuing his degrees in Economics and Commerce from St. Louis University. In 1960, he married his childhood sweetheart, Carol Ann Bertel, with whom he had two sons: Robert Anthony Rivers, living in St. Louis, and Steven Michael Rivers, who resides in Phoenix with his wife, Tammy, and their three sons.

In 1964, Tony joined Monsanto Chemical Company, where he dedicated 27 years of his life, ultimately rising to the position of Director of Distribution before retiring early at the age of 54 to spend more time with his family. After moving to Pace in 1996, he faced the tragic loss of Carol in 1998 due to illness.

Later, Tony found love again with Claire Marie (English), marrying her within a year. They shared a decade together, enjoying numerous travels, including 20 cruises, before Claire’s untimely passing in 2009.

Tony was known for his love of travel, home improvement projects, and spending quality time with friends and family. A passionate reader and keen follower of current events, he was also an active supporter of various charities and a proud Catholic. His beloved dog, Buff, and his many pets brought him joy during his life.

His legacy will endure through the love he shared and the lives he touched with his remarkable sense of humor.
