Special Weather Statement: Baldwin Central; Baldwin Coastal; Escambia Coastal

The National Weather Service issued a Special Weather Statement for coastal Escambia County and central and coastal Baldwin County, including Gulf Shores, Foley, and Lillian, as a strong thunderstorm brings 50 mph wind gusts and torrential rainfall.

Severity: Moderate · Effective: August 15, 2026 5:42 pm · Expires: August 15, 2026 6:30 pm

At 542 PM CDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm 6
miles northeast of Summerdale, or 6 miles east of Robertsdale, moving
southeast at 25 mph.

HAZARD…Wind gusts up to 50 mph.

SOURCE…Radar indicated.

IMPACT…Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around
unsecured objects.

Locations impacted include…
Gulf Shores, Foley, Orange Beach, Robertsdale, Lillian, Summerdale,
Silverhill, Perdido Beach, and Elberta.

Precautionary / preparedness actions

If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building.

Torrential rainfall is also occurring with this storm and may lead to
localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded
roadways.

Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with this storm.
Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe
shelter inside a building or vehicle.
