Special Weather Statement: Escambia; Escambia Inland
The National Weather Service in Mobile has issued a special weather statement for inland Escambia County, including Century and Bratt. Strong thunderstorms capable of producing 50 mph wind gusts and frequent cloud-to-ground lightning are moving through the area.

At 334 PM CDT, Doppler radar was tracking strong thunderstorms along
a line extending from 3 miles northeast of Atmore to 6 miles west of
Bratt to 8 miles east of Bay Minette. Movement was southeast at 15
mph.
HAZARD…Wind gusts up to 50 mph.
SOURCE…Radar indicated.
IMPACT…Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around
unsecured objects.
Locations impacted include…
Atmore, Century, Flomaton, I65 And AL 21, and Bratt.
Precautionary / preparedness actions
Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with these storms.
Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe
shelter inside a building or vehicle.
A Severe Thunderstorm Watch remains in effect until 700 PM CDT for
south central and southwestern Alabama…and northwestern Florida.
